I'm new to Windows 7 and I can't open PDF files in it. I'm using updated Adobe Acrobat 10, and an updated version of WinZip.

When I try to open a PDF file, I'm given 2 options. One is to unzip, and the other is to open the file. For some reason, neither works.

I'm able to open them on my Windows 8 laptop and on my wife's MacBook Pro.

Could there be something in my Windows settings that is causing this problem?

    Thank you,

    bellisimo

Please disregard this thread. I have just found a way of opening the files. I have to open them by unzipping them and then, because they are word documents (I assume), I have to then select open with and select Adobe Acrobat from the list. It's unusual, but it works:)

Personally I would uninstall Adobe completely as it has a huge and unnecessary footprint and download Foxit Reader which for the average person does a great job and a much smaller file.

You can either uninstall via Programs and Features or via Revo free uninstaller which I use for extended scanning for leftovers.

    kind regards,

    bellisimo ...

I concur with tallin, with one caveat ... you don't say whether you have 32-bit or 64-bit Win7 installed and, AFAIK, the free version of Revo Uninstaller supports only the 32-bit version. If you're running 64-bit Win7, try the 30 day free trial of Revo Uninstaller Pro.

    Thank you, Jim,

I have been using Revo uninstaller with My Windows7 64-bit and it seems to be working fine.

Free Revouninstaller works with my Windows 7 64-bit with no issues at all. I have used it since I purchased this Laptop.

    kind regards,

Thanks, tallin. Same here. It works fine with my Windows 7 64-bit, too:)
