Can someone PLEASE help me!!! My wireless just won't stay connected, I don't know what the heck is up with it... I will go for periods where everything is just fine and then there are days like today that I cannot stay connected for more than a few minutes and then I have to try and reconnect...

What can I do for this? Maybe I have something configured wrong??

PLEASE HELP, I'm ready to toss this laptop out the window!!!

Electrical appliances in your house or even your next door neighbor’s house can cause interference.

Not necessarily. Interference from other electricals is only a possibilty. Take note if your connection drop might be due to a wireless telephone or microwave, cellphone, remote control, etc. that came into use while connected.

Can you give us a bit of info about your setup, ie; hardware, OS?

Sorry, should've noticed that. Are you letting windows manage your connection, and uncheck the box as suggested by ssmith10pn in the other thread? Have you removed the card then reseated it?

Not familliar with that card but It should come with it's own application to manage the wireless connections.

In the "Wireless Connection Properties" dialog box there should be a tab called "Wireless Networks ". Up in the upper left hand corner there will be a box that says "Allow Windows to manage my wireless connections ".
Clear that check box (which is checked by deffault) and configure your connection with the application that shipped with your card.

    Hope this helps.

You know what? I've been monitoring it for a few days and it STILL seems to do it, now yesterday I picked up someone elses wireless signal??? It popped up in my system tray that there were more than one to choose from and it was some websites signal? Is that possible? So, I don't know what to do.... It's still dropping every now and again and honestly cannot say if that made it better or not....

    Kittie Cat,
What you must do is go into your Linksys router and enable encryption. You could use WEP Encryption which is easiest to configure. Then configure the wireless cards the same. Change your SSID and don't use the default which is "linksys ". Once you do that your cards will ONLY connect to your router and not anyone else.
I have seen many clients with this issue. Fix it everytime. Good Luck.

You can check your manual but most likely you open IE and use http://IP of router ie: http://192.168.2.1 and your router management window will open up and prompt for password, if you have not set that up yet the manual will tell you default password, it is best to change that password right away as all linksys use same password as do other routers in general. NOw as someone else stated enable WEP or WPA if it supports it. You might have to make your own WEP key or it will make one for you just make sure to write it down as you will need it to enter it in windows so the card can connect to the router atfer WEP is enabled. Also did you run windows update and this start after that, windows released a wireless update which took down my wireless setup and took me a day or so to track it down as it was acting like yours, connect and dissconnect, spit back my WEP key saying invalid all kinds of nice stuff, thanks MS :). Try this and see if it helps.
