My windows 7 took ages to load, the screen went to black and white and was checking files, I'm not sure what happened. Now if I turn off the computer I lose all my settings. I spent hours resetting my desktop etc and I lost it. I need to get past the Guest status and repair all my work. If you have any ideas it would be a great help. Thanks, Lewis

Try logging out and log back in as your previous user account. If that doesn't work try logging in as Administrator w/ no passwd. If can get in as admin the recreate your old account or a new user account.

Hi Tony, I have never had to login or out and I don't know how to. I seem to have been the admin since I've had the computer. Can you explain to me exactly how to do what you suggest. Thanks, Lewis

Click the Start Menu (the orb). There should be somewhere to choose to Shutdown or Restart or Logout (Sign out).

Right Click on Start in W10 brings up all that info - try that in W7 to see if it does the same.;)

Well I've been offline for a few days. I've got a new hard drive, reinstalled windows and recovered my data. I think the problem was the old hard drive. I think it was Caviar
