    Hi there-
I've never used one of these boards before so please go easy on me if I goof up the procedure or anything.
I am getting a "IEXPLORE caused an invalid page fault in kernell32.dll" error message every time I try to access my yahoo mail account. Actually, I try to access the account, the computer hangs (proper term?), and when I try to exit out of explorer I get the error message with a "this program has performed an illegal operation" message which gives me the IEXPLORE thing when I ask for the details. The illegal op. message will not clear without me shutting the machine down. I contacted Dell and they gave me some tips that got me to this point----I was originally getting this message with all internet activity, not just yahoo----but they say the only thing left to do is reinstall windows, which they never gave me the disks for---ugh. Can anyone help me?

    Hi tao3773
Welcome to the boards! Can you give us a few system specs and what O/S you're running please?

    *edit*
In the meanwhile..... have you done a recent scan for spyware?
If not...perhaps download and run Ad-aware

Thanks for the welcome and the quick response! I am running windows 98. I have no idea what spyware or Ad-aware are. Am I help-able? Is help-able a real word?:)

You didn't receive a CD labeled "Recovery" or "Recover" or...as in the case of newer Dells... "Operating System "? If nothing like that is in the collection of CDs that came with the system, call Dell and request they send you one. Have the numbers from the sticker on the side of the computer ready 'cause they're going to ask for them.

    Hi again tao3773
Help-able sounds good to me! :D

If you've no idea what spyware is...... downloading and running ad-aware is a great idea for you. If you're bored silly go right ahead and read all about it. :)

Wow! You are all so quick to help--Thank you! OK, first---No, Dell never gave me a recovery or reinstall disk. They also told me that they don't carry them to give me one any longer and even if they did they wouldn't give me one because I am "out of contract" which evidently is synonimus with "SOL." Second--I will definitely checkout the spyware--what exactly does it combat --I'm assuming it keeps hackers from sneakin' around in my system?
