Iefeats

My Norton Internet Security continually pops ups that I have an Adware called IeFeats in my WINNT folder. Upon a little research, it appears to be responsible for my homepage being hijacked to "about:blank" and for my popups. Every program that says "finds and deletes iefeats" hasn't worked yet. It seems like every time I open IE, it reinstalls it or something. Can anyone help me fix this terribly annoying adware?

Sounds like you actually have at least two malware installed.
One is IEFEATS

They provide an automated removal tool
http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/FixIefts.exe

Note that after running the removal tool there are still several manual repair steps you must take.


As they noted , this is normally associated with a second coolwebsearch trojan infection. You have a CWSabout:blank infection.

Download and run the removal tool
CWS 2.15 as of May,2005
Click on the download stand alone version of coolwebshredder
Download it, run it , and choose fix.

Then download hijackthis and run a scan and save log and post the log here for us to check that you do not have anything else.

wow. this is more complex than i had imagined. my girlfriend is going to back up some important files before i move on with this. i will post in a few days when i have everything worked out. thanks for the help and i'll post my log when i get it all finished.
