Resolved ie8 will not let me tab

everytime i try to tab i get "what do you want to do?" i just really want to read the page.but i dont get too. unless i open another window. i had tabs then one day i just clicked on "open in another window" and i have been doing it ever since. im getting really annoyed with 8 because not only will it not let me have my tabs back it wants me to set it up. i have only had it since 3 -09,i thought it was set up! anyone with any idea of how i can have my tabs back and get rid of that set up thingie that pops up?
thanks will be lurking around. got to post on xp about esent logging 455 snd general 489 and hhctrl 1904.im starting to blame them for all this mess going on on my poor innocent computer.
