Hello to the WBBS Brotherhood ,

This had been an ongoing issue for me for many months and it only happens with one website. Unfortunately, it is my oft used webmail site at Lycos.com.

I have XP Pro and IE8. This issue started with IE7 and did not stop when I updated to IE8. I did run TFC (Temp File Checker) at one time and it cleared it up temporarily. It quickly came back with a vengence. I have contacted Lycos and they say that it is not them.... and it works fine from my office which was XP and is not Win7. It is never affected other websites.

The login page has a box to check to "Remember This Computer ". I always check it, and it remembers the login and passwork if I click the cursor in their respective boxes, but it will never actually bypass the login page (like it does at work).

I have thoroughly checked for malware and often run Malwarebytes (on going), Avira AV, TDSS Killer, CCleaner and TFC. I am now as clean as I have always been. I have tried deleting all the cookies, IE cache, History, etc, etc.

One thing that I should mention is that once I log in, the website shown on the address bar is long and convoluted. If I make that address my IE Home Page, it will login automatically for that day. After that, I am at square one again and have to do that process over again.

Admitedly, life could be much worse and this is more of an inconvenience that a serious issue... but, I am, alas, tired of it.

    Any suggestions? Thanks,

    Lar

Sounds like cookie for website is being deleted or not accepted.
From description sounds more like deleted at end of day.

I’d first look at 2 things.

    IE8 – Tools – Internet Options - General Tab.
Delete browsing history on exit should NOT be checked.

Privacy tab. Set it at medium.

Hi, both are already set as you suggested. :(

What gets me is that 100% of the time, it will not remeber by log in on the site's main page at all, but does work at my office.

    Thanks.
