Running WinXP w/IE8. Recently (last couple weeks) if I have IE open, and then open a folder, program, etc., i.e. Outlook Express, the IE window takes control and always on top of other windows. Even if I click on the other windows, IE remains on top. The only way to remove from top control screen position is to minimize...a pain. In the past, could click on all open windows and they would jump to top (view) position, then click on another and they would do same. Now, all will do that with exception of IE. It always remains in full view over all other programs. What did I do wrong, and how can I correct this? (Tried Tweak UI focus, did not work). Thanks...

This link will show you how to run chkdsk which will make sure there are no damaged files in your system. I suspect this problem is either due to corrupted files or a virus/malware. Chkdsk can take in access of an hour to run and may appear to have frozen at times, be patient and let it finish.

There only seems to be fixes and tweaks available, like Tweak UI, for making the IE window stay on top and as Tweak UI was unable to reverse the setting I can only assume that you have some corruption in the system.

I can recommend a free virus utility from microsoft which should dig out any bugs in the system. You will get it from here:

Let us know how you get on.
