I just added an additional user account to my XP system. Only two accounts on that system. I can not access IE7 with the new account. Neither the desktop or Quick Start icons work. I have tried creating new icons and they don't work either. This is what I get. The IE program starts, but then it stalls without getting to my home page, or the default home page. I can not close the program or get into any menu items (File, Edit, View, etc). The only way to close the program is to do a Ctrl-Alt-Delete and close the program. IE works just fine in my main account, just not the new one.

This is the first user account that I have added, so I'm probably missing something small. I just have no idea what it is. Thanks in advance for any and all suggestions!

I don't know if it's the same issue or not, but you might try taking a look at my thread in this forum from yesterday (http://windowsbbs.com/showthread.php?t=60767). Maybe Bill's advice and links there will work for you.

    Rebecca,

Thanks for the suggestion and link. I did a little more research and found a solution to my problem. I disabled a couple Yahoo add-ons and that did the trick. Thanks again for your help.

FWIW and in case you didn't know, if you ever have a problem with IE7 that you suspect might be related to some kind of add-on, you can check it out quickly by starting IE without any add-ons. Click start>all programs>accessories>system tools>Internet Explorer (No Add-ons). This will start IE without any of the add-ons enabled.

As I read this recently and felt like an idiot for not noticing:

IE 7 will install a new desktop icon.

The no add-ons mode is available with a right click on the icon:
    Start without add-ons

Well, I'll be a monkey's uncle. :D I use that icon all the time for getting into IE's options and hadn't even noticed it. I guess I'm just a creature of habit. Right click and head for properties, full steam ahead. :D

    Zander and Bill,

Thanks for the tips. That would have been easier then trying to disable the add-ons before IE froze up.
