    Hey all,

due to a recent image problem i was having (some wouldnt show up at all), i decided to upgrade to IE7. that problem was fixed, but its left me with another. usually only when a good amount of images are being used, there is a lag in the scrolling. I know its not this computer at all, as it was brand new in the summer.

i did some googling, and some suggested that it is the appearance of IE7 doing this. definately not the case for me, as i actually use Slimbrowser. it uses IE's settings, but it has its own appearance (which basically is IE6 with tabbed browsing). does anyone have any ideas?? with text, or little to no images it is fine, but when images come around, theres trouble. I am about to do the same to my desktop to fix the images-not-showing problem, but i am afraid of how that thing is going to scroll. its way older than this laptop im on right now.

    anyone have any suggestions?

(I didnt see any similar threads, but if one exists, someone feel free to direct me to it!)

Updating your video card drivers might help.

more problems. when i had (yes, had) IE7 on my desktop... once i double clicked the icon, it took literally 8 seconds to open a BLANK page!!! so i thought, maybe an uninstall of that and a fresh install of IE6 might still fix that original image problem...... to no avail.

so then i thought i would **** it up and download the ever-preached firefox, and use 1 addon (ie6 lookalike), same thing. took forever to open. i took this off too. now, i would RATHER, much rather, use IE7 thru slimbrowser... that fixes all the images, but startup is so slow, especially for a blank page.

do i have no choice but to have not all images OR slow as heck loadup?? i know IE7 has a no addon function, but that will not start thru slimbrowser.

if someone could tell me how to hack the system and use IE7 and fast, that would be great. OR, how to make IE6 continue to display all images, as this problem only happened (on both computers) maybe 5 days ago.

any help would be great, thanks!

ETA: i just wanted to clarify, I am not getting red X's. im just not getting anything at all. it is as if theres no image there at all, but i know there is via my other computer.

Hi Mel- are youstill having problems displaying images? I'm not familiar w/ Slim Browser, but I did some Googling.
Is it possible that there are settings blocking the display of images? Have you tried uninstalling SB, rebooting, and reinstalling the program? Could there be a conflict with your security software that is delaying the loading time of web pages?

You said the problem started 5 days before you posted. Did you try running a System Restore? What happened? Up until then it was working fine? Were there any hardware/software changes made at the same time as the problem began?

well the thing is, it happened on both computers (laptop and desktop) at the same time. i installed IE7 on my laptop and it fixed the problem there (except the sluggish scrolling is still there). but on my desktop, IE7 is so slow, i kept it for maybe half an hour and uninstalled it.

it happens in actual IE6 too (slimbrowser uses all of IEs settings). so i guess my choice is either some images not showing, or super slow IE7. my desktop is in desprate need of a format, but i can see that making IE7 that slow and painful.

i read somewhere that i read it could be the mouse software, but it happens both on my laptop touchpad, and my desktop logitech mouse. im out of ideas. i want to know besides a hundred addons making it slow, what IE7 has (to display all images) that IE6 somehow doesnt anymore.
