    Hi,

I have windows xp, version 5.1 and ie 7. I started getting the message: internet explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. The microsoft website said to uninstall ie7 and reinstall it . I did it, and I still get the message and also the information bar and tools are missing. Also the ie tabs have no information. I tried downloading the ie7 again but I cannot do it. After the download, it takes me to a blank page. Thanks for your help.

gaguyo - Welcome to the Board :)

It looks like your installation of IE7 is either corrupted or you have a problem with add-ons ....

Disable all add-one - Tools > Manage Add-ons and see if the problem is resolved. If it is re-enable each add-on in turn until the culprit is found.

If disabling the add-ons has no effect uninstall IE7 to roll back to 6 and test.

Download a fresh copy of IE 7 from here and install.

    Hi Pete C,

I do not have access to tools, so I went to internet properties-programs-manage add-ons, I clicked it and nothing happens. I will try uninstalling.
    Thanks!

I seem to remember that the Menu Bar is not shown by default - certainly not in early versions, try ....

Right click in blank area at top of window - to left of icons - Home, etc and select Menu Bar.

    Pete C,

I uninstalled ie7 and now I am able to use tools, I guess what I have now is the ie6. I went to the link u gave me to reinstall ie7 and after I click the download button I get another page saying: thank you for downloading ie7, and the next box that pops up is blank. I cannot download ie7. I tried it two times and the same thing happens.
