After deleting everything of IE7 Beta2, IE7 Beta3 did not install. I disabled McAfee and Spy Sweeper before trying to install. Also have Windows Defender and Ad-aware SE but do not know how to disable except to completely delete from machine. Would deleting these two be the problem?

    Help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Adaware SE is not running unless you opened it (in which case close it). Adaware plus or pro have Adwatch, which is an active monitoring component. If you have that disable it.

For Windows defender, open it, click tools, options, uncheck use real time protection, click save. If you wish, you can also close it down, click help, exit windows defender. Remember to go back and reenable real time protection after installing IE 7 beta.

However, I don't think either of those apps are the cause. I had both on my PC (set as above) and installed IE 7 beta without problems.

One app you did not mention is Zone Alarm firewall. Do you have that, and if so is it v6.5.xxx? that is known to cause problems with IE 7 beta install, in fact the IE 7 beta release notes advise uninstalling that version of Zone Alarm and using XP firewall during IE 7 install. Earlier versions of ZA are OK. After install of IE 7 beta, reinstall ZA.

If you are using the FREE version of Zone Alarm, then updating to the recently released version 6.5.371 has fixed the bug, so should be OK too. No such updates are yet available for ZA pro or other ZA products.

    IE7 Beta problem

For J. Rosenfeld.....thank you for your prompt reply.
I do not have Zone Alarm firewall only XP firewall. I'll exit Windows Defender, also McAfee & Webroot Spy Sweeper and try again.

Will let you know how I make out. Thanks again.

Can you give a little more detail here - error messages, etc ?

Did you uninstall beta 2 through Add/Remove programs - you said 'deleted' but this may just be incorrect use of the terminology :)

To Pete C.....The only error message that came up was-----

"Internet Explorer installation did not complete "

Besides going through add/remove to delete I also used 'search' for any files and deleted those.

    IE7 Beta 3 problem

I am sorry to say that it still will not install. I have gone into the Microsoft Knowledge Base article 917925 but even though I've been into computers for six and a half years I do not feel comfortable in going into the registry to do any changes that it suggests. So have decided to forget IE7 for now.

    Thank you for your input.

OK - IE 7 RC1 should be out fairly soon - let's hope you have more success with that :)
