I am just curious, IE7 comes with a bunch of addons already installed and enabled. Which do i actually NEED in order for everything to function properly??

i am confused becuase I thought IE7 and Java/Shockwave/Flash were all separate applications, but IE7 has addons for these... do i need them to use the programs?? im just thinking maybe things could be faster if i disable the unneeded addons.

Im also curious about a scrolling question. On my laptop, When i plug in an external mouse, all is fine, all the time. However, when i use the touchpad to scroll, sometimes its ok, other times it lags... on the same site, same browser, same everything.... help?

The majority of Addons are necessary for the correct functioning of websites or of third party toolbars added to IE. BHO's - Browser Helper Objects effectively assist in the browsing function, others link Java/Shockwave/Flash to IE for use when a website requires them.

You may safely evaluate the function of each by disabling an addon and seeing what the effect is through Tools > Manage Addons.

On the scrolling issue I would check out the Touchpad settings.

The problem of slow scrolling shows up in several hits on the web without any specific solution proposed - some say a bug in IE 7, but to date there does not appear to be a universal solution.

With regard to the Touch pad just check out the settings found under Mouse (?) - I don't have my laptop to hand at the moment, in terms of pressure, speed, etc. I rather doubt that any change in the settings will resolve the problem. It may be hardware related - a combination of hardware items installed on the computer or ???. All I can say is that it is not a problem I have experienced with my setup - and I have run IE 7 from the beta stages to the present day. Now IE 8 - that's a different animal and I experienced problems with the beta version to the extent that I uninstalled it.
