Ie6 Repair

    Does anyone know of a safe method to repair IE6?

    There is no safe way, but this is the recommended method

    http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;318378

    and this is another

    Start > Run > type or paste in rundll32.exe setupapi,InstallHinfSection DefaultInstall 132 %windir% \ Inf \ ie.inf

    or navigate to the Windows inf folder (hidden) and double click ie.inf

    Good luck. I followed the M$ KB instructions exactly, and wound up with my first ever "Fatal System Error "- could not even boot the comp. Had to start all over! (All because I wanted my "History" back! Arrgghh!!!)

    What exactly is wrong with IE6? Maybe there is a way to correct the problem without burning down the house.

    Had your earlier post re your experiences with IE Repair in mind when I said "There is no safe way" - but it has worked OK for me - so far :)
