    Right click on the grey space to the left of the spinning globe and select standard buttons.

    srudy--Did the suggestion about the toolbar offered by Bmoore1129 work?
    Concerning the globe (I presume you mean the MS revolving globe), it may be a problem in the Registry. If you are comfortable modifying the Registry (a back up is suggested), Click Start|Run|type regedit|click OK|click the + signs in the following order
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft|Internet Explorer. Click ON the Toolbar folder in the left panel. In the right panel, look for BrandBitmap and SmBrandBitmap. Right click on each (separately ), click Modify|Type Default. After so modifying both Bitmaps, reboot.
    Is everything the way you want it now?

    Do you have a File, Edit, View, Favorites, Tools, Help space just below the Colored bar at the very top of the internet window?

    Right click on that grey area next to help.

    srudy--The advice from goddez1 is good, but if that does not help, the advice from Bmoore1129 still is valid. Click on the grey area anywhere below the title bar (probably blue, at the very top of your screen). Then do what Bmoore1129 suggested. If that works, and you still have no globe, then do what I suggested.
    If none of that works, let your cursor slide over the area just below the TitleBar. Do you see a double headed arrow? If so, drag the double arrow down.
    P.S. The bar with the globe is the MenuBar rather than the ToolBar. It also has File, Edit, View, etc. The ToolBar is the one with Back, Forward, Stop, Refresh, etc.

    Glad I could help.

    This "Fullmode view gotcha'" has caught more than a few users. The only additonal comment I could make is that you familarize yourself with IE's toolbar options. These toolbars are all totally customizable in every use of the word, Size, location, multible bars on a single line, hide one or all, etc. One misplaced mouse drag or shortcut and your zapped.

    It sounded as if you not only had fullmode but the toolbar was also autohidden, this could explain why you did not see anything other than the blue ie titlebar.

    =======
    Good point Welshjim...... now I'm curious if the menubar is still absent.
