When I click on a URL link in any program, IE6 launches in a window, not maximized. Previously, it launched maximized. I would like it to open maximized. It suddenly changed and I don't know why. How do I get IE6 to launch maximized when I click on a link? I'm sure there is probably some regeistry setting which controls this. I've run regsvr32 urlmon.dll and that seemed to make no difference. If I create a shortcut to IE6 I can, using the create shortcut dialog box, make IE6 launch maximized. I am running WinXP Home Edition.

maxb--This usually works in Win98. Don't know about XP.
The next time you get a small window when you open a link, drag the edges of the small window to the size you want. Close the original window which had the link--not the window you just maximized. Now close the newly maximized window. The next time you open a link in a new window, it should open in the newly maximized size.

welshjim, that technique will probably work but I will still end up with an expanded page where the center icon in the upper right of the screen is a "maximizre" icon (one little square). What I want to end up with is a maximized screen where the center icon in the upper right of the screen is a "restore" icon (two little squares). This will allow instantaneous switching between maxmized and smaller screens.

maxb--If this is a XP thing, I cannot help.
You did not say anything about the buttons at the top right. In Win98, I have three buttons. Depending on how I open a window the first button is an underline (Minimize), a big box (Maximize) and an X (close). If I click the Maximize button the middle button changes to two smaller boxes (Restore). the other buttons stay the same. If I click Restore I go back to the original three boxes. So I have instantaneous toggling.
This is not what you want.?
If you do not have the middle button you want when you first open a link, then first change the buttons by clicking the middle window before you drag the edges of the window.
    Maybe I misunderstand.
