    Hi there,

hopefully someone can help me with this odd problem with IE6.

Whenever you are using a browser window in IE6, it works fine (ie this one), however, when you right click and "open in new window" or when you click a link that opens a new window, one of two things happen:

    1. The new window opens blank, and hangs both browser windows (itself and the one referring it). The only way out of this is to End Task one or other (both then close).

    2. The new windows flashes up for less than a second before closing all open IE windows.

I've noticed drwatson.exe appears each time this happens, but I don't know how to start debugging that! I've also tried using NTFILMON but this generates 7000 lines of actions, all of which seem to say "SUCCESS" or "FILE NOT FOUND" - the latter regarding various temporary internet files.

I've tried registering DLLs as per previous similar issues, all to no avail. If anyone has any ideas what could be causing this, I would be so pleased to hear them!

    Cheers!!
    Icy

Upgrading to IE7 is not an option sadly.

In Internet Explorer, go to Tools>Internet Options>Advanced tab. Scroll down to and uncheck "Reuse windows for launching shortcuts," click OK.

If that doesn't help, the Yahoo toolbar has been known to cause the problem. If you have it installed, uninstall it and see if that fixes it.
