Thanks for reviewing my issue. I have IE6.0 SP-1 from XP Pro. Since having this on my new computer as soon as I click on the downward pointing arrow to review the address bar history, IE freezes up and I have to End Process via Task Manager. I have already:

    1. Repaired it via the accepted way through the RUN window (no IE repair available in Add/Remove)

    2. Deleted TIF and History folders via Safe Mode/Command Prompt

    3. Tried to reinstall via ie.inf (right click on Install)

Nothing seems to have helped so far. Any ideas??

    Thanks, Larry

    Hi, Larry ~

If you are serious about trying to repair IE6, here are two links w/ many links therein, albeit convoluted and lengthy, but have proven successful for many in this forum as well as the frequent lurkers of Woody's Lounge:

A similar (and, unfortunately, unresolved) issue is detailed here. Maybe it'll give you (or somebody else) some ideas.

Didn't find much directly helpful stuff there. But I will keep trying. I will takes weeks to through the many links and things that are suggested (but may be totally inappropriate for this issue).

Thanks for the info. Must be an odd problem.

Brett, wanted to mention that your posting link is almost the same issue as mine. My issue does not time-out. It is a permanent hang. So much was done in that thread without positive result, it makes me wonder if its worth trying and just living with it is the best option.

Do you see activity on your connection during the hang?

Can you wait till Monday to find out. It is the computer there that is doing it.

I'll report back Monday afternoon and thanks for hanging (pun intended) in there.

This is a great end to this thread but I cannot explain it.

IE 6.0 stopped hanging. That is not to say that it will not start again sometime. If it does, I will be back to continue this thread. Thanks guys,

    Lar
