    Hello group :)

I'm having a problem with Internet Explorer 5 and wondered if I could get your feedback/help on this please!

I can dial-up and connect to the Internet but when Explorer is opened it immediately goes straight to the "No page to display" screen. When I try to log onto AIM or MSN it says I that I'm not connected to the Internet.

The little "TV things" in the bottom right hand corner ARE flashing - so I must have connected to the Internet. I can also hear the modem dial-up and connect. So I am connected.

I contacted my ISP who told me to delete all my cookies, temp internet files and history - which I have done and I still cant open ANY pages!

Any other tips for getting me reconnected....I'm suffering without net access *sob*

Thanks to all replies in advance

    Toni

I would call your ISP again, and see if they actually see you logon. I had the same problem once, it was their router. If no go, you might try "making a new dial up connection ". Post back good or bad.

/BronzeToni : I had this problem once and

If I remember correctly, what I did was to go to "Dialup Networking" and create a new DUN(Make new connection). (Hmm, see aleekat has already suggested this) Somehow the old had gone bonkers and the new solved the problem and I hope this might help you. It might be more complicated than this, but why not try an easy one first. Luck to you.

Tried a solution from my ISP now puter is broken :(

    Hello again :)

I tried something else that my ISP advised before trying your solutions.

My ISP told me to run my system file checker and to restore corrupt files. So I did. My ISP also told me to specifically restore a file calle Wsock32.dll.

I did this, restarted my computer and now pfft. It wont work LOL

It boots up you get all the DOS bits, and then the Windows 98 screen shows up as if its loading then the screen goes black and the computer restarts itself.

I tried booting up in safe mode (i got this screen) and the same thing happened :(

Any ideas on what to do? I'm thinking maybe it'll have to go into the computer shop for repair?

To get yourself back, try running scanreg/restore and select a date prior to the ISP correction.
