Is there a registry setting I can alter to make my IE open in a maximized window all the time, no matter how I open it?

    Cheers.

Digitalis--I think brett is directing you to the suggestion he made in the second post in that thread rather than proceeding with the suggestions made further on down that thread.:D

Thanks, but dragging the window doesn't maximize it.

What I am looking for is for all IE windows to open maximized, even "daughter" windows.

    Albuquerque? suburb of Aberystwyth?????

There's an application which will do this for you - I can't for the life of me remember what it's called though (helpful stuff, eh :D ). Try seaching through the IE forum for "maximize" (I'm sure that it's been mentioned several time previously).

    brett--I think it is IEMaximizer
    http://www.jiisoft.com/iemaximizer/index.htm
Surprised your suggestion did not work, but the above is a good next step.
Digitalis--Dragging does not work? How about that corrugated area at the bottom right?
Also try a right click on your IE icon|click Properties. On the Shortcut tab, choose window size from the Run line.
(You should see what "Albuquerque" looks like in Brythonic.)

    Hello again Jim.

Dragging my window does have the designed effect, but although I can drag the window as far to the edge of the screen as I wish, it still isn't technically "Maximised ", which is what I'm after.

I already have IE icon set up to run maximised, it's when I open a link from within IE like the one you posted for "http://www.jiisoft.com/iemaximizer/index.htm ", this is when the window opens at what ever size dragging has set it to.

Digitalis--Possibly I do not understand. If you try what brett first suggested, but, after dragging as much as possible, click the Maximize button (middle of the three at top right of a window) before closing the "mummy" and daughter windows, do you not get a "maximized" window the next time you open?

I think what Digitalis wants is a true maximized window. Doing it Brett's way works but the window isn't truely maximized. Try it and after opening the second window, click on the maximize button and you'll see the window expand ever so slightly. Or, before clicking the maximize button, click on the title bar and try dragging the window to a different place on the screen. You'll see that you are able to do it. That's not possible with a maximized window. Unfortunately, I don't think you're going to find anything better as this subject has been beat to death here and in every other forum I've seen; newsgroups included. I may be wrong but as far as I know you either have use the drag to size work around or use an app like the one brett mentioned to do it.

Zander--I'll be darned. You cannot drag that Maximized window. But the difference in my case cannot be more than a few nanometers at most. And I have been too lazy to follow my own advice about clicking the Maximize button before closing the mummy window and then closing the daughter (son?) window.:D

You're right the dif isn't much but to me was always kinda irritating just because there are times you want the window in the small position (to view two windows at once for example) and then you're stuck having to drag it down to a smaller size as clicking on the min- max box only maximizes it. Actually, I had begun to like it opening small until recently. Until last week I've been on dialup (cable just became available here in the sticks; yippie) and when you'd open a window it would take a while for it to load. Well, the small window was kinda handy in that you could just click on the window behind it to get rid of it, continue reading on the other page and give it time to load. Now that I'm on cable though, the page is right there so I'm beginning to not like it again. :) After all these years and all the complaining I've seen and heard about it I can't believe MS hasn't done something about it. I wouldn't think it could be that big a deal to make it an option though I know next to nothing about programming so who am I to say?

    End of rant. :D

For anyone who may still be having trouble getting IE windows to maximize automatically, here is a neat tip. I installed iemaximizer from
    http://www.jiisoft.com/iemaximizer/index.htm

I then found that even if I did not run the program anymore, all of my IE windows would open maximized! Go figure.

I'm maybe missing something here, but won't F11 do what you want?

What he wants to do is when a link is clicked that opens into a new browser he wants the window that is opened to be automatically maximized instead of having to do it him/herself.

Yep F11. You can also customize the toolbar and add an icon, then all you have to do is click it.

He/she doesnt want the screen to be full screen (F11) everytime another window opens, he/she just wants the screen to be maximzed.
