I got the error message indicating it is an IE problem.
There we are posting in the IE section.

Sequence of events to the problem:

    1. Click Start

    2. Click Help and Support

    3. Select "Invite a friend to connect to your computer with remote access "

    4. Select "Invite someone to help you "

    And we get:

    "Windows Internet Explorer
    Your current system settings prevent
you from sending an inivation. "

    *************************************

So, where do we find help information that will outline
the steps in accomplishing this task ?

    Thanks

And use the Messenger method. You can always disable Messenger afterwards.

I know the editing of the invitation certificate as email should work, but I have never managed it. And this was true on both ends of the connection -- to the Microsoft XP Network Product Group.

Enabled the Messenger IM and it just worked.

FWIW, I agree with Bill. Use Messenger. No muss, no fuss. It works. Though I've never pursued the issue very far, I've never had much luck with the email route because of firewall and/or router issues no doubt. With Messenger, I've never had a problem. It just works.
