Early this week, we downloaded Internet Servce Pack1 (which was touted as a "critical update "). Ever since, eek: I have been unable to access the internet if my firewall software (Zone Alarm Pro) is running: With ZAP running, I get a page of gibberish in place of my Home Page when I open IE6 and then cannot access any web pages either. As soon as I shut Zone Alarm down, IE6 works "normally "...although response time seems very sluggish! Can you help resolve this conflict???:

First, check the permissions in ZAP for your browser. I found ZA (free version) "forgot" its settings after the SP1 install but its easy enough to reconfigure in ZA's Control Center>Programs.

If that doesn't help, and if you have ZAP 2.6, try going here to get the ZAP uninstaller, follow the directions on that page and then reinstall ZAP.

If you have ZAP 3.x, go here for online support. Hopefully, you'll find the fix for the problem.

Thanks for the suggestions. I do have ZAP3 and couldn't find anything to address this in their site's FAQ's. I have sent an e-mail to Zone Alarm's support, but no reply in several days! I did go into the program settings and turned off "privacy" for Internet Explorer and it DOES work that way, however, I know I had "privacy" turned on for it previously--the Help instructions even use IE as an example of a program where you'd want privacy ON. Anyway, at least it is running now. Thanks again.
