I have Windows XP and IE. When I go to a site that requires a user name and password, after I enter the required information, I get a message asking if I whant to save the information for future use. I say yes. On my non XP computers, the next time I go into the site I get semi automatic log on. But, on my XP it never works. I know that in windows 98 the passwords and user names are stored in files with a pwl extension and I can see them on those computers. But, on my XP computer, those files are missing. Any suggestyion as to why this feature is not working?

In Internet Explorer go to tools, internet options and click on the content tab and then the autocomplete button. Make sure there is a check in all of the options, user names and passwords and so on.

Yes I did that already all boxes are checked. I am wondering if the folder in which the pwl file is supposed to be stored is somehowe not available but I dont know where it is stored.

Thanks for those new references. One of the problems it turns out that in my windows xp I am missing a dll called RSABase.dll so one of the fixes gives an error. So now I am lookink for an XP version of that dll to see if that solves my problem.
