Ugh, for some reason, an unwanted **** link has shown up in my IE Search window. After scolding my son, I find that he didn't put it there, so it must have been one of those **** sites, that sneak links into various areas without you knowing about it. I can't seem to get to any place where I can remove it. No menu pops up when i right-click the ad. I've tried everything i can think of, and now i'm looking for help. I would really like to get this removed as quick as possible. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Oh, and i'm running off of Windows ME

    Hi speed1334
    Welcome to the boards.
First thing I'd do is download and run ad-aware. Give that a go and tell us how it goes.

Thanks, that was quite a useful download, but unfortunately it's still there. Any other suggestions? Is there a way to change which search engines appear in the search window? If so, I might find something in there, but right now I'm at my whit's end...

And thanks again for the tip.

Ad-aware's latest ref-list is supposed to address all those now.

speed1334? I'm a little confused? At first you said it was a link in your search.....then you mentioned clicking on an ad?

Have you tried clearing your history?

I'm currently going through the website (also a great tip) to see if I can't find a remedy for this. And yes, it is a little confusing. Its an actual ad in the search window. Not in the place to type your search, but below them. I have Google, Yahoo, Lycos, and AltaVista search boxes, but below them is an ad for ****. I'll let you know if I find anything on the website. Thanks for all the suggestions!

At the risk of being redundant...........Did you run Ad-aware....or just download it?

Lets see, Daizy, I did run ad-aware when I downloaded it, and it found 5 cases of spyware on my computer, just not the ad. And the website helped a lot, but I finally just decided to upgrade to IE6, which apparently has a whole different type of search window. So, its gone! Finally, I can live in peace. Thanks to all of you! I just might have to stick around and see if you guys can solve any more problems...
