I am about ready to strangle my IE program if it was possible!! When I visit web sites, even those like MSN or Yahoo, I constantly get warnings from IE about script errors or "most scripts on this site are safe" **** and other such nonsense. Every now and then my Spybot program will also give an announcement about blocking "Click ID" and other such things, but that program is not nearly as annoying as IE. I have tried reseting my security level settings, and even that doesn't stop all the annoying pop-ups from IE. And I can't go any further on a page until I click all the OK's that are popping up.

    HELP PLEASE!!

How do I eliminate all these foolish warnings that I couldn't care less about???

    Sandie

Admin Note: Forum Posting Rule #3 calls for a meaningful title and "Internet Explorer is driving me NUTS" did not qualify. Since you are new, I changed it for you.

Try making a couple of setting changes. Click on Tools, on Internet Options, on the Advanced tab and then make sure your browser is set like the marked items in the picture.

I would not call them Foolish.

I think you had best do more thinking. IE ( or something you have ) is doing its job of WARNING you.

It reads like SpyBot is also doing its job.

Someone here may be able to help you get rid of the message and/or explain a bit more but, DO NOT stop IE ( or whatever ) from doing its job.

I am not 100% sure but I believe ID is connected somehow with Identity Theft.

I just have to add this.

I am in the process of cleaning up a machine loaded with TRASH because a Niece did not like the way I had things set and changed them.

And I believe the area of Newts' thumbnail.

And come to find out she did get a couple of WARNING messages and NEVER told me.

Thank you Newt, and Billy Bob

I so appreciate you both for taking the time to answer my query. I did as Newt suggested, and then opened two trusted web sites that gave me many warnings about scripting, and none popped up.

I don't mind Spybot warning me about blocking Click ID at all. It was doing what I set it to do. But the sudden warnings from IE were just one after another when I would open to a site I fully trusted, and it was just so annoying. I don't know what I did to trigger them all of a sudden, but it must have been something. Possibly went into Internet options/tools/advanced and hit "reset defaults" for some odd reason or other, and then didn't remember doing it. Wouldn't totally surprise me, but I can't see why I would do it.

Regardless, it seems to be working now, so I will keep my fingers crossed that the problem has been solved.

Again, thank you both so much. I really appreciate your help in every way.

    Cordially,
    Sandie

Sorry guys, I guess I was mistaken

I THOUGHT I got things working right, but today when IE opened to my "home page ", which is a local TV news web-site, I recieved these messages, and not once, but over and over as the page continued to load.

"Do you want to allow software such as ActiveX controls and plug-ins to run?

A script is accessing some software (an ActiveX control) on this page which has been marked safe for sctipting. Do you want to allow this?

Scripts are usually safe. Do you want to allow scripts to run

I added this site to my "TRUSTED SITES" list, but I don't think it was accepted because it is still listed as "UNKNOWN(mixed). "

How do I stop these annoying messages from popping up. They must have popped up at least 10 times as this page continued to load.

The site is http://www.wnep.com/, if you want to check it out. It is totally harmless, so I don't understand all of these problems when accessing this site.

    Thanks,
    Sandie

sandilew - this is totally different than what was happening.

Before, your browser was set to see any errors in the way a web page was written and to give you details so you could fix the problem. Since the problem was on a page someone else wrote and that you could only see, not edit, those messages were worthless to you and a major annoyance.

This latest message is telling you that a script hidden in the web page wants to do something to your PC. It could very well be a very legit something or it could be something nasty. Probably in this case (with them marked as safe) it is fine.

Different section after you click on tools and on internet options.

    Thank you Newt.

I have reset my settings to what you showed, and we'll see what happens.

I understand receiving warnings when something is known harmful for my pc, but I was being told scripts were safe, so I didn't understand why to constant pop-up messages. Fine if I could just have ignored them and done what I wanted to do, but the page would stop loading every time until I clicked "OK" for each and every warning, and like I said, for the WNEP.TV site page, I would recieve those same warnings over and over, maybe 9-10 times as that home page alone loaded. It was driving me bats!!!

Thank you so much for your continued help and patience with this old woman! I really hope that the problem is at least aleviated some now. I'll let you know how goes when I get the time to check it out.

    Cordially,
    Sandie
