    Just a quick "google" look see lead me to this CUT-N-PASTE:

    IBM ThinkPad
    According to IBM, if you install Netscape Communicator from the Software Selections CD that comes with a ThinkPad 1400 or 1500, and you are running Access ThinkPad, you may see this error when booting: "Internet Explorer Script Error. An error has occurred in the script on this page:Line: 218, Character: 2, Error: SSdiv is undefined, Code: 0, Url: file://c:\Windows\ApplicationData\ Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Desktop.htm."
    There are two workarounds. You can disable Access ThinkPad by right clicking the desktop, and selecting Active Desktop. Then uncheck View as a Web page. The second workaround is to make Microsoft Internet Explorer the default browser.

    =======
    Don't know if this applies to your current situation but the error is an exact duplicate. Don't even know if this fix is the best solution but it's a starting point for further investigation.

    Hi goddez1,
    Thanks for the reply.
    We don't have a Thinkpad. We have an Aptiva 2171-550 and we are using IE 5.5 as the default Browser. We used Netscape Navigator Gold 3 about 18 months ago before we switched to IE 5.0.
    :confused:

    I am no software or web site developer or code debugger. I have only the barest understanding of IE' script debugger. The usual advice is disable script debugger via the IE menubar>tools>IE options>Advanced tab>and disable or check options "disable script debugger" and uncheck option "display notifiction about every script error ". This tool is geared towards the site server or software developer and not needed by most users. These script errors are common and frequent and in most cases harmless but the error popups can drive one crazy.

    The fact that it is pointing towards your desktop.htt indicates that you may have an error in the script somewhere in your desktop display. Even though you have indicated that Thinkpad is not the issue perhaps "Web View" Option is still a problem and disabling this, as suggested by link, will still take care of error. Dunno...

    ============
    If disableing script debugger doesn't take care of problem or is not a viable option.......
    I don't use or have web view enabled on mine and am not imediately familiar with procedures for possible desktop.htt corruption or methods recommened for tshooting such. Some web html wallpapers will set or need "web View" enabled to use the wallpaper. Perhaps if you also change to a standard windows .bmp wallpaper....?

    As it is so late, tonight, and I have to shutdown, perhaps you or another can do a search for problems with desktop.htt and desktop.ini. If not I will do so when time is more convenient and append to post.

    Have thus far been unsuccessful in even finding out what the code ssdiv is used for. Perhaps there is a debugger guru out in the wings who can shed some light on this?

    ======Found this!!! Perhaps?????=========
