    Hello
I have spent some money with Macafee for Spamkiller, On-Line Virus, Firewall. I don't know what is happening...
O/S Win98SE first- While connecting to the with IE 5.0, the minute the modem start to dial, I get a lot of pop-up windows for sex, search engines, traffic4u banners, and everything else you can think of. If I connect to the internet, I can't download anything , these banners knock me out completely. If I clear them, they re-generate, and again this starts again, and again. It also affects my MS Office programs. Even with the firewall. I have done on-line virus scans, but to know avail. I even installed windows 2K. Not only did I have to get new drivers, but it got worse. It even changes my homepage default.I really need help. I am trying not to do a complete Format, and install. Much too much info on my drive. I do have backups, but not on all of my program files. All help will be appreciated and needed.

    Thasnk you all

    Hiya donabano

    Welcome to the boards.

As our "man of few words friend Brett :p " was trying to say.... best place to start is to download and run Ad-aware

    IE Microsoft Virus

I am smiling a little bit more at this moment. I used the Ad-aware nad RegClean. Helped but virus was still there.
The only thing I did was installed Mozilla, and am eliminating IExplore.exe as a Browser completely. I am on-lin and no currupt files. I know they are still in the computer, but I still don't know how to completely rid myself of them without a new install.
    Should I install the W2000 SP 3?
    Please Advise and thanks

    Donabano:)
