Each time I close IE, the error window (attached) appears. Not sure how long it has been since it started. It gives no problems that I can see but would like to do away with it if possible.

Have you tried sfc /scannow to fix the problem file(s)? The error certainly can't be a good thing.

I've tried nothing so far. In doing the SFC, am I to be concerned about the SP2 change? I have the disk from Microsoft to run it if necessary, but wanted to ask first.

Newt - I'm having somewhat of the same problem and when I enter SFC /SCANNOW it comes back with incorrect parameters as in scannow, or with scan. I'm illiterate as to DOS mostly.

Mudd - Close to Big Spring , eh?

Fairly close. Ever heard of Knott? That's home. Not much left of it as money and fast cars made Big Spring closer! Just a few farmers and oil people left. ;)

Mudd - as in Don Knott's? :p No, to tell the truth I haven't. I asked cause I went thru some flight training at Webb back in the 50's and was commissioned there and remember a couple of good TexMex restaurants there back then. Hope you get your problem fixed (me too, altho mine doesn't seem a big deal).

When you run SFC and it finds a file that needs replacing, it will look on the CD you have inserted and if that is not the right one, it will tell you which one it needs.

Unless you have a slipstreamed CD with XP integrated /w SP2 you may have to swap CDs from time to time.

I marked another "dogooder" for you on this one. The SFC took care of the problem. Again I thank you for your expertise and help.

-----------------------------------------------------------------Spoke to soon! Just closed the window for the reply above and the same thing came back. Worked OK a couple of times. :(

Will just live with it until I decide to wipe clean and reinstall everything.

    Still I thank you.
