keithsince59--Do you mean the Toolbar directly below the bar that has File, Edit, View, Favorites, etc.?
What was the function of that Norton Icon? A shortcut to open a Norton program window (like NAV or NIS)? Or?
Are you and your partner's PC's connected?

keithsince59--In your Favorites, you should have a folder named Links. I suspect you had a shortcut in Links to whatever Norton program is involved and have either lost it or have lost Links in the Toolbar.
If you have lost Links (look for that word in the Toolbar) then right click on an empty spot on the Toolbar and check the word Links. Now you should see "Links" in the Toolbar. Do you also see the Norton shortcut? If not, open Favorites in your partner's PC and see what the Norton shortcut says. Add it to your Links folder in Favorites.

Since you have not told me what program is involved, I cannot be more specific.

I think all you have to do is click on View>Toolbars>and place a check next to Norton AV

balo--Yes, you are probably correct. That procedure is messed up on my PC. When I check Google, I get Norton AV on the Toolbar. When I check Norton, I get the Google Toolbar! :)
So I have just lived with it and forgot about it.

keithsince59--The more I think about it, wonder if you need that NAV icon on the toolbar. You should have a NAV icon on your System Tray (now also called Navigation Bar) just to the left of the clock--on the Taskbar.
If you do not have it there, I suspect you have not enabled AutoProtect, which is not a safe way to run your PC. To enable AutoProtect, open NAV|Options|AutoProtect--first item. Check "Enable Auto Protect (Recommended) ". Reboot.
Now you can do what you want with NAV by right clicking on the icon in the SysTray| Open Norton Antivirus. That opens the same window as View Status does from the Toolbar. From there you can access all the other tools.
Sorry to have confused the issue.
