It had been working normally. But since two days ago, no web pages could be displayed by Internet Explorer. I tried Firefox, and it was the same.

On the other hand, I could ping any web sites. So the connection to Internet should be alright.

There were two days left for my Antivirus and Firewall software. I uninstalled them but I still could not access to any web site.

I am using workgroup and the computer will obtain IP and DNS automatically.

I used the XP Professional CD and installed the Windows XP with "Upgrade ". Everything fine. But the notebook still couldn't open any web pages from IE and Firefox.

What's wrong? and how to fix it?

I've seen this before on a pc were Zone Alarm was uninstalled.

To ge to the internet you had to pass through ZA and it allowed access. Without the firewall there wasn't anything to allow access. In other words, uninstalling didn't revrse the settings...

In this case, reinstalling ZA fixed the issue...

You might check with the support section of your old firewall and see if they have any tips.
