I have Internet Explorer 8 and Windows 7 on my computer. My Windows 7 is automatically updated. If I were to install Firefox on my computer, would my Windows 7 still be updated automatically updated? Thank you. Stang

Your browser makes no difference. Windows update is an independent application that uses IE regardless of installed browser. In fact some people have several browsers installed for whatever reason.

So no you will not have to worry about Windows updates.

Windows Update does not use IE or any other browser at all. It's an independant service built into Windows. As a matter of fact, IE can be completely removed from Windows 7 with no ill effects.
