In IE7 a feature that I loved was when you clicked on a new tab in the browser the page showed ICONS of your web history. For work this was great to quickly find a site. Now we've upgraded to IE8 and they are gone, I know quick tabs is there for open tabs, but I miss the history Icons.

Does anyone know if its something I've done or is this feature not available in IE8?
I'd appreciate any incite or help.

Click on the down arrow at the end of the Address Bar - your recent browsing history should be shown there. See ......

    Customize the Smart Address bar

I can still see my history but it doesn't show the icons on the new tab like IE 7

No, but it does give you the opportunity to Reopen Closed Tabs ....
I vaguely recall the icons you mention in IE 7, but that was some time ago - I've run IE8 since the first beta. Some things have changed in IE 8, maybe not to every one's liking :).

I figured it out, in the IE7 I had installed the Google Toolbar. I upgraded to IE8 and even though it showed the Google toolbar as installed, I uninstalled ot then reinstalled it and TADA!!! I have the icons back on my new tab page.

That's most interesting - I also have the Google Toolbar installed, but this is on an install of Windows 7 in which IE8 is native and not an update and the Google toolbar was installed later.

Thanks for sharing that info :)

Out of interest I checked to New Tab in IE8 - interestingly the icons you mentioned are now present - go figure :)
