What happens when you right click where the image should be and click Show Picture? If the picture appears, and this happens only on some pages and infrequently, I would not worry much. This happens to me every now and then. Could just be that the server of the downloaded page is too busy at that moment. However, you could try cleaning out your cache. And, while I doubt it will help (but it cannot hurt!) you could also run Repair Internet Explorer. (Control Panel|Add/Remove Programs|scroll to Microsoft Internet Explorer|highlight|click Add/Remove| check the box Repair Internet Explorer|Click OK. Wait.)
Are these ads? If so, maybe your IE Tools|Internet Options|Security tab settings (Restricted sites or Java settings) or HOSTS file are blocking?
If you cannot get the image to appear and they are not ads, can you determine what file extension the images have and post back? (Right click and click on Properties.)

This happens to me also. I use both netscape and IE and when I first go onto the internet, if I use netscape first the problem occurs. But if I first open IE all pictures show up and then I can switch back and forth between the two with no problems.

Hi cybot55 , jazcan and Welshjim

Resources play a part also -unless you have xp
Clearing the cacth as Mr welshjim suggested is the best way
    to aleaveate the problem.

Is this a new updated ie 6 for you ?
Some people have success disableing show download placecard holders
In tools> internet options -advanced in the multi media are
while your there place a check in all the boxs --
    If you havent already ?
also as suggested java (may) plays a part here tooooo

Even if you use other browsers to surf --have ie set to check if its the default browser ?
    Regards

    Lonny
