I tried unchecking links toolbar from view/toolbar but everytime I restart my pc and open IE the links toolbar is always there. Also I noticed that the size of all toolbars are now large when it was previously set to small.

    Please help me.
    thanks1

Try the steps described in this thread, reboot and then try removing the links bar.

thanks Brett but my IE toolbar actually got worse after doing the steps in that thread(regedit). Now I have a search window on the left, links toolbar and text labels all apprearing after I restarted the pc.

It is not really a big deal-but I really want to find out what is causing this. I also posted this at MS but did not get a solution. Found also some who have the same problem-so it is not my PC causing this.

Can you email a screenshot of your browser window and post details of which OS you are running?
