I have encounter a very strange problem. I can access other internet sites all day long with no problems, but for some reason when I open the windowsbbs site I get the following error after about 5 minutes: "Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." I can use another brower that I have Avant Browser with no problem. I don't really believe the windowsbbs site is causing the problem, but I don't understand why it only happen when I access the windowsbbs site using IE. As I said it's very strange. Anyone have any suggestions as to what is causing this error?

bobemartin--If misery loves company, I also have this problem from time to time.
When you get the error message, at some point you should be offered a button marked "Details" Click on it and report the error message.
Here is what my error message usually says
"Win32 Kernel core component attempted to write to memory that does not exist or is read-only. It may be using an uninitialized variable, or it may be attempting to access memory after having freed it.

    Module Name: KERNEL32.DLL "
Darned if I know what to do about it. I just sigh and reboot.
But maybe your error message will be different and someone can suggest a cure.

I have had the same problem, (my OS is 98se)...I even got on a new computer the other day (XP), and still had the same problem! I was using IE6 (on 98se) , but got so aggravated I went back to IE5, but not before having to reformat C drive!...More than once! I'm starting to loose a little faith in MS products...Is there a better browser out there??

I've heard that Opera is very good, but no hands on :)

Incidentally I have minor problems with Windows BBS - mainly a note in the status bar ' Done, but with errors', but the pages display OK. So maybe the BBS is not without fault?

I was having the same trouble with Internet Explorer at BBS and other sites. Went to Opera Browser, and have had no trouble at any sites. Been using it for many hours. It is free with an ad banner, purchase and lose it.

I second Pete, it may be this site. Every once in a while, when in 9X and IE 5.5 and in this site, IE 5.5 freezes, have to use the "3 fingered salute" to get out.

Never happened with XP & IE6.0

    Regards - Charles
