    Hi all,

I've got a problem with IE 6.0 on WinXP Professional SP2. When I try to open a normal (http://) web page, nothing happens and the page doesn't open, but secure (https://) web pages open normally. I'm also using Firefox 1.0.7 and there are no problems with it. What should I do to fix this problem?

    Thanks in advance,
    Peter.

If it happened with firefox too I would say it was a problem with port 80 since http uses port 80 and https uses a different port. Often spyware will redirect port 80 traffic through a hosts file entry to a proxy server which will only allow you to access http sites if the spyware is installed. If you uninstall it without removing the redirect, then you loose http access.
I would suggest running spybot and ad-aware to check for and remove spyware.
Post a hijackthis log to have it reviewed.
