After more than 45 minutes searching I was unable to find
IE 5.01 SP2 full download. I am looking for the entire 17Mb download so I can take the full SP2 to a machine that cannot access the inernet --so the smaller setup file which does not contain the actual SP2 is of no use.

Anyone know if the full package is available for download? If you do please show the link.

    Thanks,

    Dan

Thanks, but your link is not for full download

Thanks but when I follow your link it ends up with the same place I have already visited way to much today. It is not the complete download!!

It simply downloads the installer --which then will "customize" the subsequent download.

I'm beginning to suspect that it is NOT available anywhere.:(

Ah. You could maybe download an earlier version from here and then download and run the installer.

    Here's the trick.

You can download the setup files for internet explorer to your hard drive without having to immediately install it. This lets you save the files on your hard drive or cd or zip for later installation. In addition, you can also specify which operating systems you want to be able to install it on. here's how:

Go to the microsoft ie web site - http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/default.htm - and click on the version of ie you want to download. They currently offer ie 6 and ie 5.5 sp2 and ie 5.01 sp2. Follow the instructions to download the setup file. When prompted, save that setup file to disk into a folder of your choice.

Once the file is downloaded, go to start / run and type in the following command exactly as shown, including the quotes. Of course you'll need to replace the path to the setup file with the path where it's located on your machine:

    For ie 5:
    "e:\Downloads\MSIE\ie5setup.exe" /c: "ie5wzd.exe /d /s:" "#E"

    For ie 6:
    "e:\Downloads\MSIE\ie6setup.exe" /c: "ie6wzd.exe /d /s:" "#E"

This will result in a special download window where you can specify where to download the setup files to, as well as what OS's to download the setup files for.

Even though you'll end up with one folder and one set of setup files, you can then use the same setup files for any OS that you specified.
