Paula - Welcome to the Board :)

Which particular icons? Windows icons or program icons and/or icons you may have added as shortcuts?

I am unable to find a solution to your situation where some of the icons remain. I suggest you use System Restore to restore your computer to a point in time prior to the disappearance of the icons. This may well restore the bug - do you recall what it was? - but we can deal with that separately once you have your desktop back.

    Hello Paula,

If you're not familiar with System Restore, use Help and Support on the start menu and type System Restore.

Click on Run the System Restore Wizard form the results items.

    Hi paula,

    To ensure that is gone:

    Download and run HijackThis:

Download from here http://radiosplace.com/ latest version 1.99.1

Download it to it's own folder, for example create a folder C:\HijackThis

unzip (double click on zipped folder)

    click on the execute

click on Do a system scan and save a logfile and save to the folder you just created

copy resultant .txt file and paste into your next post

    Regards - Charles
