Hi, Can anyone tell me what is the biggest internal HDD (Gb) that I can install in a IBM T30 notebook. Also which would be the best to use.

    Thanks for any help:)

It can handle up to a 320GB 5400 or 7200 rpm 2.5" PATA/IDE drive. You need to make sure that the hard drive is installed correctly in it's cradle with all 4 screws. When inserting the hard drive make sure the pins align. Sometimes you need to pull off the palm rest and push down on the hard drive for it to align.

I use Hitachi Travelstar 5K100 hard drives in my T42s. They run cool, quiet and don't drain the life out of the battery. The 100GB drives give me more than enough space for dual booting, programs and normal storage.

Hi, Thanks for the info Whiskyman. Still can't find an IDE drive greater than 160GB, but I,ll keep searching.

    Cheers again.

I'm on the fringes of Irene. Only 25-35 mph sustained winds with 50 mph gusts and 1-2 inches of rain expected. We're used to the high winds off Lake Ontario.

Maybe try second-hand like Ebay, if you need to. Me, I would stay under 128GB (roughly, because there aren't any drives at that size), which is one of the BIOS limits.
