I have been starting Opera by first starting a web site. I left click an area to the left end of the Address Bar and then drag it to Desktop. I then click it to open Opera with a Tab of the web site. I updated Opera from 10.10 to 10.50 and now it tells me that it does not work. If I go back to 10.10, it works again. I like it when it works with 10.10, but I would also like it if it worked with 10.50.

Good luck. Opera 10.50 broke a lot of things that work for me. It is so bad that I have gone back to 10.10.
Never thought I would say it, but I advise that nobody upgrade to, or download this version.

I am back to 10.10, and I was hoping I could get it to work with 10.50. I come to BBS everyday by one click. There is many people here that can help, so I can only read and go on. Many times I have been helped. A few times I have helped.

Pay a visit to the opera forums and you will see how many others are having problems with 10.50.

I went back to that site. I tried several ways that are supposed to work. They all seem to be missing something. Do not work.

The sites I visit daily get placed in my Speed Dial. Two clicks and the site I wish to view is opened.

With Opera 10.10 I click to open the web site and Opera by clicking the web site. This is one click to open both at the same time. With Opera 10.50 I must open Opera, then wait to open the web site. I got used to the 10.10 way and I like it. So 10.50 will not be used for a while. I am not aware of Speed Dial.

Speed dial allows you to have up to 25 web sites available at a single touch. When you open a new Tab, it should be available to you. Have a look at the bottom right corner of the page after opening a new Tab.
You can also have Opera open the Tabs you closed with.

I still have not found Speed dial. I have not found anything at the bottom right corner of the page. Is this only found on 10.50.

OK. I opened Speed Dial "Tab" and there is Configure Speed Dial In the bottom right corner of the page. It seems that what I have to do is start Opera, open a tab, and Click a Web Site. That is not what I am looking for. I can start Opera, open a Bookmark, and Click a Web site.

If you go to Tools > Preferences > General you can choose Opera to open from your last session, meaning that any tabs left open will be re-loaded at startup of Opera.

That is not what I want to do. With 10.10 I can click the web sight and start Opera and the web site. Then I can open other web sites with one click each. Since I saw where some people have notified Opera about this Bug, I will keep one eye open and hope they fix It. Thank you everyone for trying.

Are you actually saving the website link to your computer and then just clicking on that?
If so, I see no difference between doing that and doing it the way I said.
That said, if it worked with 10.10 and doesn't work with 10.50, there is definitely (no surprise) a bug.
They rushed this release waaay too early imo.

If the web site tab that I want is not open, and Opera 10.50 is not open, I will have to open 10.50, and then the web site. I do not want to do that.

Ok. I Have XP mode on my Windows 7 pc so I cranked it up and tried what you are doing.
I dragged the favicon from the address bar to my desktop and closed opera (10.50). I then clicked on the saved link and Opera opened as it should.
Not sure why yours would not do it.
May be operating system specific, but I cannot see why it would be.

I messed up again. 10.10 and 10.50 are allmost the same. "Wrong." I setup 10.50 over the top of 10.10. "Wrong." I have been going over the top for years. I removed 10.10 and setup 10.50. Now when I click a web site on the desktop, Opera opens, and web site is a tab. Just what I wanted. I will not do over top again. Thanks!! When I saw your latest #17, it "hit me in the head" that maybe over the top is not the way to go.

I generally do an over-the-top update too, but when there is a major upgrade, a separate install is the way to go :).

I am back. I downloaded and installed 10.51 after removing 10.50. Now it does not work the way I want. I removed 10.51 and reinstalled 10.50 and now it does not work. I removed all Registry files I could find when I removed each application. I made a Bug notice at Opera. Of course I do not know if they will fix this.
