    I now have Win2000 installed on a dual P3 600 system.

    Windows says I have:
    x86 Family 6 Model 7 Stepping 3
    MPS Uniprocessor PC

Everest Home Edition also reports on just one CPU.

A Knoppix 3.8 CD does see both CPUs. I thought Win2000 supported SMP, so why am I not getting it?

I got SMP enabled now :)
But as soon as I did, the system became very unreliable. Total lockups requiring the RESET button occurred from the very first boot with SMP enabled. They occur at random times, sometimes while busy, sometimes while doing nothing. Sometimes less than 5 minutes of booting, but usually 10-30 minutes after booting. I've not had such a problem happen a single time with the Knoppix 5 live DVD. Is there maybe something more to be done?

I would do a clean install to see if that makes a difference (I would just connect a new HD & do an install to see what the outcome is. If no crashes I would considering a clean update for my system).
