    Hi good people,

I think I have a power supply problem on my Laptop.
I have a Compaq Evo N610c and sometimes when I turn it on I hear a squeal and it will shut down. After 2 to 3 attempts it will boot. Sometimes, for no apparent reason except that I moved it, it will shut down. Since I can restart it immediately and it also happens when I first turn it on, I don’t think it is a heat problem. Also the light that indicates that the battery is charging will go on and off and the icon in the sys tray will change from "charging" to "on AC" and back.
Am I correct about the power supply? If yes, how hard is it to replace?
    Thanks for your help
    Sven

I have seen this problem before. It is not the power supply. It is the connector on the board inside the laptop. Power supplies will generally work or are dead.
Unfortunately fixing the connector on the board inside the laptop is neither easy or cheap. Sorry.
