I made some idiotic idiotic mistake. I spilled some coffee (with some cream with splenda in it) on my laptop. I have a Toshiba Satellite with synaptic pad for mouse. I cleaned it and all is working OK so far except the synaptic pad. It tells me "plug a synaptic pad so windows can recognize it." I have to use a mouse to use laptop. Anybody had experiance with this? :( Any recommendation? Should I open laptop? Thanks in advance for eventual suggestions.

Definitely not good news - coffee and keyboards do not mix well :)

What action you take depends on how much you rely on the laptop and how confident you feel in dismantling it. You could disable the pad in Device Manager, but that hardly addresses your problem.

My feeling is that you would be best off taking a trip to the local repair shop.

BTW - I use a mouse regularly with my laptop - not keen on those touch pads!!
