I have taken some photographs on my iPhone or copied them from a scan but that was done some time ago. I have since obtained a new computer and transferred these and others from my old computer.

It seems that photos taken on an iPhone are owned by the owner of the iPhone, and although the photographs are on my computer and are mine I cannot open them on my computer to edit them. I am told that I must get the permission of the owner.

How do I do this and convince the computer that the photos are mine? I am using IrfanView64 and Picasa3

TonyT: Well I have followed the instructions from HowToGeek and am shown to be the owner of the photograph so can't change anything. I am logged in to my computer with the same account as the 'owner' shown in the Security Tab.

    So where to now??

Will the images open with Windows photo viewer? If so, the image files may be Read Only and you'll have to change permissions.

Thanks for trying TonyT but nothing seems to work. The photos are not Read Only, and open in Windows Viewer. I will just have to stop using my phone to take photos I want to edit. I will use a camera instead that does not allocate ownership. Windows and Microsoft really do pxxs you off sometimes.

rsinfo: Thanks for your input. I have managed to put the photograph into Picasa (I still use it in spite of Google abandoning it) and cropped it. When I tried to save it with a new name I got a message to say that I did not have the owner's permission etc, but when I looked at it File Explorer it was in fact cropped!

I just don't understand this rediculous security that seems to exist in Windows. I also have problems with looking at files on my other computers on my network. In the end I have just given up. I am sure there is some individual at Seattle who has nothing else to do but make up these stupid rules and put them into the OS. They are of recent origin I am sure.

Lets not waste any more time with this subject as I just get so mad.
