I have been having problems with the sound on my computer for a little while. When playing a file sometimes the sound is great but every now and then the speakers will cut out one after the other but the sound will click back on after you resart the file over. Well today I was taken to the windows update homepage and installed the 11 updates they suggested after that I had no sound. I know that one of the updates was an audio one which makes me think my sound problem is a software problem. If anyone could give some advice that would be great. I know you will need more info just let me know!

    MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Brinic, from your post it seems that your sound drivers are hosed. If you know your sound card make, goto the web site of the maker and download the latest drivers. If you cannot find the maker site or drivers on it, you should search for the sound card chip (goto System in control panel --> Device Manager --> Sound, video and game controller). just type the name of the driver/chip which is shown over there (something like Vinyl AC'97 codec) in google and search for the drivers.

I have seen many problems with hardware drivers updation using Windows Update, so its best to ignore any hardware drivers update in Windows Update and update them manually.

    Best of luck.
