Well my internet sometimes goes terribly slow and the cable guy said we should put a password on our router because our neighbors are probably clogging the connection.
I don't know where the user manual is so...

Can you go to Netgear's site and see if you can download a manual or view operating instructions. I bought a one of their network adaptors on eBay, and downloaded the driver from Netgear. There was other info pertaining to the adaptor, but all I needed was the driver. Good Luck!

I'm reading the ref. manual and it says something about a browser interface. I don't know where that is?

Your router is a part of your "basic network" and can be accessed from your internet browser. Try entering in one of these 'default' IP addresses into the address bar of your browser.

Password protected router is one part of two required settings to secure your router from unauthorized use.
Password protecting the router prevents "changing settings" on your router.
Next step requires you to set up an encryption on your wifi signal. Choose WPA or higher. You will also have to create a "passphrase" (another password) which each connecting computer will need to enter (once). Once a successful connection has been made, XP wifi will remember it.
The above steps will provide acceptable security for majority of home users. ... and keep the neighbors off your wifi signal.
