I need help with my monitor settings / I messed something up...

Hi all.. here is a summation of what I did... please help with how I can fix...

o I recently got a new computer and I hooked up 2 monitors to it.
o I wanted to set up my monitor configuration as a 2 monitor system.
o I opened the Control Panel, Display, Settings tab, where I saw a 1,2, and 3 monitor, but when I clicked on the Identify button, both monitors displayed the number 1. (I should’ve stopped there)
o I clicked on monitor 2 in the Settings tab, and checked the box to extend my Windows desktop to this monitor, I also checked that I wanted this to be my primary monitor.
o Then I checked the Apply button. My desktop went blank.
o Thinking back on it, when I clicked the Identify button and only the number 1 appeared on both monitors, I should have realized then that I should not have made the monitor 2 the primary monitor, since my system wasn’t recognizing my 2 monitors as 2 separate monitors.
o I now have no desktop to work with. It seems my desktop icons were left on monitor 1, which is no longer active. If I can get back to monitor 1, I’ll go back into the Control panel and make monitor 1 as my primary monitor, which I believe will fix my problem, but without a desktop to see, I cannot get to the control panel.
o If I reboot, It goes back to monitor 2.
o Is there a "hot" key on the keyboard or a way I can get off monitor 2, and back to my desktop?
o If not, how can I change my monitor settings without the start button, or desktop icons to work with?

 

Try booting to Safe Mode. Turn off pc, turn on, tap F8 until the boot menu comes up. Select Safe Mode and try to fix it from there.
