I Right Click Desktop, Right Click Properties, Click Appearance, Click Advanced, then go to Item. There is now no System Font. I scanned with Anti virus, Spybot, and Ad-Aware and found nothing. I have 2 other Computers that have System Font. I started this computer this morning and noticed that the fonts were changed. I probably did something, but I can not imagine what it could be. The System Font seems to be the best for my eyes.

    Hello wahlroot,

Reboot? Just to make sure it is not something as easy as a "restart cure ".

I have read but not confirmed that MS Sans Serif is xp's system font (sserife.fon). The below is directions for a simple copy and paste from one comp to another also the how-to to extract such from i386 folder should the need arise.

There should be something useful in the following post, many ways to address this issue the choice is yours. Just scroll towards the bottom of this link:
    http://www.experts-exchange.com/Web/Graphics/Fonts/Q_20533156.html

It may be something as simple as a change in your font size or as complicated as corrupt or missing font, a change from regular to clear type or vice-versa will appear odd or different also. Please also note that when changing, using "display options ", not all options will have a font choice. The Font option appears dimmed and is unavailable for elements in the Item list that do not display text. In any case the fix is in the above link.

Read carefully and don't attempt anything beyond your understanding or experience level. Just start with the least destructive fixes and work your way to the more risky complicated ones.

Have you googled this: (just for a foundation base understanding of problem. "Knowledge is power ")

Sorry that I did not get back sooner. Everything went crazy. Things on the screen went very wide. Then would go black then come back and then repeat. I had no control over this. I scanned with an antivirus. Took about 6 hours. I deleted everything that it found. I think everything was maybe. I then started a Win XP Sp2 boot disc. The screen went wide and then black. This time it went further and then stopped. It stopped then restarted several times. Finally it got to the end. Now the System Font has come back and I put them where I wanted them. Of course I have several hours to get things back where they were. Also when I reboot the computer It will sometimes ask for the boot disc and will not go forward until I put it back on then take it off. That is a real pain. I will see what happens now.

    Hi wahlroot,

I see, in a more recent post, you are currently struggling with an infected computer. That would also be one explanation for a missing or corrupt system font. I feel your headed for a reinstall and am equally sure that the font problem will fall by wayside. Sorry to see such a tragic end and cure but as they say "spit happens ". Good luck! :)

I know you have your hands full at the moment (most likely with your own pulled hair) and as awful a resolution as this is, it still is. Can you please take a moment and mark this post as "resolved "?

I ran a repair with an XP SP2 Boot disk. Now the System Font is back. This part of my problem is solved. There other things that are problems. Will try to fix them.
