   I have both McAfee and Norton on my computer and was told that I should uninstall one of them to avoid problems. I am not sure if this is the correct action to take?

   There is no real potential problem in having both McAfee and Norton installed provided that only one program is active, i.e. running. Running both could well cause conflicts - this applies to antivirus and firewall.

   yep. if you was to have both of them active at the same time the system is likely to grind to a holt and basically crash.
