A compaq computer I bought came with Win2000 pro on there install CD (of which is like a recovery cd) insert and it wipes and installs....period.
My question (since i paid for it):
Why can't i copy the i386 folder to my HD and just burn a copy to a CD and have a normal install cd ??

    Anyone ever tried this?? Comments?

    Thx

You could copy the i386 to a CD and install from it provided you make the 4 boot floppies that go along with it. Win2k CD's are bootable, so unless you can get a Microsoft installer boot image on to the boot sector of the CDR that you use, you will need the 4 boot floppies.

Humm, that's good news....because http://www.bootdisk.com/ has the boot floppys. That would give me (2) different paid for legal verions of win2000. "Cool ".

    Thx
